IAMANEH, Mali
IAMANEH Switzerland is a non-governmental development organisation founded in 1978, today supporting 12 projects in Mali. IAMANEH works through local partner organisations specifically committed to helping girls and women. Among the most important projects in the world’s third poorest country are the fight against infant malnutrition, the establishment of small health insurance funds, the information on female genital mutilation and the promotion of education for girls in particular.
Together with the Groupe d’Animation Action au Sahel (GAAS), IAMANEH Switzerland has initiated a school promotion program for girls in the Pelengana district. In this rural region only one out of four girls attends fifth grade, the others have to look after their brothers and sisters, help in the fields or get forced to work as domestic employees in the city.
