Involvement of the Roger Federer Foundation

Since 2007, the Roger Federer Foundation has been supporting the sponsorship programme of the Stiftung Schweizer Sporthilfe. The annual contribution is CHF 100,000 - this sum is used to promote 40 young, talented athletes in a financially weak position. These athletes do various kinds of sports and they come from different regions in the country. They fulfil all conditions demanded by the official sports associations.

The young athletes between 10 and 16 years of age are preferably supported in less famous sports, such as badminton, bike trial, canoeing or chess. Wheel chair sport athletes are usually a bit older, as they often start their career later in life.

Our implementing partner Sporthilfe

The Stiftung Schweizer Sporthilfe is a non-profit organisation that supports performance-oriented young athletes in Switzerland, particularly in the disciplines and age groups which are largely ignored by sponsors. Young, talented Swiss athletes with both the willingness and the potential to succeed at high level are supported in many ways by the Foundation. Around 400 athletes per year receive individual relief aid or success aid, are motivated by sponsorships or awards (young talent prize and the Soirée Romande). The Foundation also finances the projects of over 30 sports clubs pertaining to young talents. In this way, around 2,500 promising hopefuls benefit every year. The Schweizer Sporthilfe raises its financial resources exclusively through fundraising amongst the general public and industry.
