Involvement of the Roger Federer Foundation

Valbella is a town in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. At an altitude of 1500 metres above sea level the Federer Family found a home. They have been living there since 2012. They feel very welcomed in the region and therefore they want to give something back. That’s why they founded the Valbella Region Fund for smaller projects within the foundation’s purpose.

Kugelbahn - Ball track

In autumn 2018, the Roger Federer Foundation donated a giant ball track to Churwalden, the neighboring community of Valbella. The huge children’s toy is open to the public all year round. You can find it right next to the cable car station in Churwalden. The artist, Stefan Grünenfelde worked on the giant art-work for one year, and it is worth 85,000 Swiss francs. Roger Federer likes to visit the "Gluggerbahn", as he calls it in his Basel dialect. It is important for the Federer family to give something back to the children of the region, because they feel very closely connected to the Bündnerland and spend a lot of time there.

Sports camp Churwalden

Sport and community is very important for the development of children. School camps promote this to a great extent. However, despite subsidies, the participation fees are not affordable for many parents. For this purpose, the Roger Federer Foundation will cover the parental contribution costs for the children's sports week (winter or summer) at the Churwalden School for the next five years. The Roger Federer Foundation wants all 100 children to have the same opportunities and hopefully fun as well.
