Promoting the talents of underprivileged children

Since 2007, the Roger Federer Foundation has been supporting the sponsorship programme of the Stiftung Schweizer Sporthilfe. The annual contribution is CHF 100,000 - this sum is used to promote 40 young, talented athletes in a financially weak position. These athletes do various kinds of sports and they come from different regions in the country. They fulfil all conditions demanded by the official sports associations.

The young athletes between 10 and 16 years of age are preferably supported in less famous sports, such as badminton, bike trial, canoeing or chess. Wheel chair sport athletes are usually a bit older, as they often start their career later in life.
